Counseling for: Individuals - Couples
I am a Registered Psychologist in the province of Alberta. My professional growth and development as a practitioner in the field of psychology began in 2001 in Eastern Canada, as I pursued my first degree in the Bachelor of Science Psychology program, at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I have a passion and desire to want to help others with their human growth and personalized development and this burns brightly within my heart, and mind on a daily basis. As a psychologist I have been continuously committed to my professional development and have accomplished the completion of further degrees, including a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology, a Bachelor of Education in Primary/Elementary, and Masters of Education in Counselling Psychology (thesis in progress). I understand that development and learning is a life long journey and that change and growth should be an exciting opportunity for all whom take the courage to walk such paths within their own lives.
In 2013, I moved to Northern Alberta, where I acquired a wealth of knowledge in rural counselling, working with clientele in a hospital setting, and with offenders in the judicial/court system, and other individuals struggling with a plethora of mental health and substance use concerns. My family and I have now settled within Sherwood Park and are happy to call this city home, and I am excited to grow and connect with the community members. I am committed to helping the people of Alberta, and feel fortunate to live within such a great province.
My clinical professional experiences have created the foundational cornerstones of my knowledge, assessment and diagnostic abilities, and excellent communicative/consultative skills with professionals, the general public and individuals of all ages, genders and races, and has prepared me to be a proficient, ethical and competent Registered Psychologist. I am always ready to share, and help others and I aspire daily to touch the lives of my clientele whom desire to take the opportunity to reflect, transform and invest within themselves. The therapeutic journey is a chance for an individual to construct and reformulate a life they want to live for their present day and future.
My professional experiences have been within the domains of crisis, trauma, mental illness, substance abuse issues, poverty, and multicultural issues. These experiences have provided me with a clear perceptual view into the dynamic relationships of unique families and their associated communities trying to acquire health services, and/or striving to maintain their stability and functionality in their everyday lives.
I have experience in providing three modalities of therapy, face-face, telephone and video counselling. I generally utilizes a variety of treatment modalities including, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Brief-Solution Focused Therapy. I am always open and ready to tailor my therapeutic approach to meet the needs of my unique and diversified clients. I believe that a client knows themselves best as an individual, and it is my role as a therapist and facilitator to help an individual to find their strengths, wisdom and reflective learning skills and strategies they possess, and to help them to reignite, implement and apply such skills upon the world they live to instil lasting change.
I like to often leave a client with one thought when they are stuck or struggling to make a decision or to take a step in the change process:
